Call for papers
We welcome submissions from language program directors, graduate students, and faculty of all ranks and languages, for 20-minute presentations. Proposals may be either practice-oriented or research-oriented, as long as they have practical implications that may be relevant to different language programs in post-secondary settings.
Presentations will be done online (via Zoom).
All proposals must fall under one of the following two strands:
Strand 1: Language teaching and learning
Topics that fit this strand include but are not limited to the following:

Research-based pedagogical approaches

Technology integration
-
Experiential learning
-
Assessment of instructional outcomes
-
Diversity and inclusive teaching
-
Intercultural competence
-
Students’ and instructors’ perceptions
Strand 2: Language program direction
Topics that fit this strand include but are not limited to the following:

Training and supervision of teaching assistants

Language teaching methods courses

Evaluation and training of language program directors

Program articulation
-
Curriculum development and revision
-
Mission, vision, and objectives of basic language programs

Recruitment and retention
-
Selection and development of instructional materials

Course placement practices

Language resource centers
Submission Guidelines:

You may only submit one (1) proposal as a lead presenter and be listed as a co-presenter on one (1) other proposal on a different topic.

All submissions should include: a title (15 words maximum), an abstract (300 words maximum), and a 50-word summary to be included in the program.

All proposals must be submitted in English.

Proposals will be sent out for blind peer review. Notifications of acceptance / rejection will be sent in August. Accepted presenters must register for the symposium by September 1, 2020, or they will be removed from the program.
